A series of Christmas card designs by Edinburgh school pupils will brighten up the public’s festive spirit by being displayed on digital advertising screens on bus shelters in Edinburgh this month.

Hundreds of pupils across the city entered the competition to design the cards for the City of Edinburgh Council.

The three winning cards are issued by the Council’s Director of Children & Communities, Gillian Tee, Education Convener Councillor Paul Godzik and Vice-Convener Councillor Cathy Fullerton.

The Christmas card competition is an annual event and this year JCDecaux offered the added incentive of the best entries having their designs shown on their digital advertising screens in Princes Street.

Cllr Godzik said: “There were some really good entries this year so it was difficult to choose our three overall winners so I’m delighted JCDecaux offered the extra digital display prize.

“I saw some of the designs at a special preview event last week and they looked spectacular. The pupils were really excited to see them displayed and they will definitely bring festive cheer to shoppers on Princes Street.”

Suzanne Williamson, Director of Regional Contracts at JCDecaux, said: “We were very pleased to work with The City of Edinburgh Council to bring this stunning seasonal showcase from local children to our bus shelter screens. It’s bright, beautiful and will be seen by everyone out and about in the city centre this December.”

The designs will be displayed from today (1 December) through to Christmas Day.
