Fire at Bath Road, Leith

Firefighters tackled a fire in Leith this afternoon which prompted multiple calls from the public when a large plume of black smoke could be seen across the east of the city (13 March).

The calls came in shortly before 3.45pm to a fire just off Bath Road in the Leith area of the city.

Fire crews from Crewe Toll and McDonald Road responded to the blaze and discovered a large pile of rubbish alight.

Four pumps attended and firefighters extinguished the fire at 4.47pm.

Crews remained on site to carry out damping down at the scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
