A fire that was started deliberately has ripped through the disused West Pilton Family Centre on Ferry Road Drive.
Police and Fire service staff were advising local residents to go inside and close all windows and doors as there is a risk due to the amount of Asbestos that was in the building.
Police are appealing for information and have asked anyone with information to contact them on 311 3131.

the multi use pitch between the houses at west pilton park and ferry road drive. access points which were meant to be secured at the time wernt which doesn’t help. i can try take a few pictures and send you them as an example

in the last 2/3 weeks alone at the football pitch at the back of the houses on the bottom of West Pilton / Ferry Road Drive there have been at least 5 small fires, people getting bins stolen and burnt and things thrown daily at the windows. The police wont/cant do anything they have been out themselves repeatedly lately and it just seems to make it worse. i loath the day the pitch was put in, instead of my children being able to use it, they wont go out because of the large groups that congregate there, its strewn with litter/glass/rocks/bricks and all sorts of burnt rubbish. the council have been out and cleaned the area several times but the second they are gone more rubbish appears.
Is this the Multi use Games Area (MUGA) that was put in and not the pitch at the West pilton neighbourhood Centre? Any photos of it when its looking bad?
Is there lots of fires and problems around West Pilton / Ferry Road Drive? Have you spoken to the Community police?
getting sick and tired of some of the kids around here, the fire department been out 3 days in a trot and several other times in the last few weeks to put out fires at the so called football pitch at the back of our house. stones and other stuff are constantly thrown at windows, causing stress to every one, no doubt i bet its been the same people that caused this fire, no respect for anyone or anything. something has to be done its getting ridiculous
