Former Scotland football captain Billy Bremner’s sculpture stands proudly in Leeds, Newcastle United legend Jackie Milburn is similarly commemorated in the centre of his home city while a statue recognising Olympic gold medallist Steve Ovett’s achievements can be found in Brighton.

Ken gets his hands (gloves?) on Edinburgh Award!

Former undisputed world lightweight boxing champion Ken Buchanan has been presented with the prestigious Edinburgh Award 2016.

Edinburgh’s Lord Provost Donald Wilson proudly presented Ken Buchanan MBE with an inscribed Loving Cup in recognition of his impact on sport in the city at a ceremony in the City Chambers on Friday.

Tonight’s the night for KABO boxers

It’s been a lot of hard work for everyone involved, but they’ve made it. Tonight’s the night for ‘The Jewel of the North’, KABO’s biggest ever boxing event.

Some seats are still available for the show at Edinburgh College Granton Campus: there’s one ringside table left at £20 per seat, and you can also pay on the door (£15).

Doors open at 6.30 and the action starts at 7pm
