‘Wee lassie fae Leith’ to chair Scottish Youth Parliament!

SYP

Northern & Leith MSYP Terri Smith has been elected to chair the Scottish Youth Parliament when Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament convened in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis for their 60th National Sitting.

Terri said: “I think I was the proudest woman in Scotland yesterday when I was elected chair of the Scottish Youth Parliament. For a wee lassie from Leith this seemed the unthinkable when I was told I would amount to nothing aged 14!

“(I’m) very much looking forward to the year ahead bringing change and always ensuring Scotland’s most vulnerable and disenfranchised young people have a voice.

“Finally a few congratulations and thank you’s are in order. Congratulations to my fellow board colleagues, Vice Chair Ewan McCall Msyp, Trustees Amy Lee Fraioli Molly Kirby Thomas-Alexander McEachanand Kirsty McCahill. The newly elected Conveners, deputy conveners and MYPs. Thank you to the SYP staff team, our local authority support staff and most importantly Western Isles Council for their spectacular hosting skills. ‪#‎SYP60‬ has certainly been memorable.”
