Jeane Freeman makes pledge on benefits cap at Muirhouse meeting

Jeane Freeman, Scottish Government minister for Social Security, has responded to campaigners’ demands by pledging to consider fully mitigating the Benefit Cap cuts to Housing Benefit.  In response to the evictions caused by the Benefit Cap cuts campaigners have occupied council buildings and Ruth Davidson’s office. LIFTing the lid on Scotland’s new social security system

LIFT (Low Income Families Together) organised an event to give local people an opportunity to learn more about the ongoing changes to the welfare and benefits system yesterday. Around sixty people attended the Scotland’s New Social Security System: What Does It Mean for You? conference in Muirhouse Millennium Community Centre yesterday. Zoo Arts drawing trip

Zoo Arts, North Edinburgh Arts’ Wednesday art club for ages 9-14 years, will be visiting the Edinburgh St. James building site on Wednesday (16th May)!

We will be drawing, painting and collaging from the amazing vantage point of Edinburgh St James Project’s 3rd floor offices overlooking the site.

Parents, older siblings, and other curious creatives are very welcome to join us on these trips.

Brookie tenants take a walk down memory lane

TENANTS at a retirement housing development in Muirhouse tackled the history of Scottish dialects as part of a series of events held by the local Reminiscence Group. Organised by The Living Memory Association (LMA), tenants at Bield’s Brookwell Court tested their strength in Scottish dialects when they took part in a group reading of Scottish books and literature yesterday.
