Local company achieves Investors in People Platinum accreditation

Warmworks Scotland, managing agent of the Scottish Government’s  national fuel poverty scheme, Warmer Homes Scotland, has achieved the prestigious Investors in People Platinum accreditation.

To have received the highest level accreditation means that Warmworks has become only the second organisation in Scotland to achieve a Platinum award in its first assessment against the standard.

For nearly 30 years, Investors in People has been recognised internationally as a leading people accreditation and Warmworks’ achievement reflects the commitments that the company makes to its employees – leading and inspiring people to achieve great things on a daily basis.

Commenting on the accreditation, Ross Armstrong, Managing Director of Warmworks said: “I am absolutely delighted that Warmworks has been awarded the Investors in People accreditation, Platinum standard. This was our first assessment against the standard and to receive the highest level accreditation is a testament to how we do business.

“That’s why I was so delighted when Warmworks received the Investors in People Platinum accreditation. This demonstrates not only their commitment to their employees but also their determination to lead by example as an employer of choice.”

Warmworks, based in Leith, was founded in 2015 and employs around 70 field and office-based employees. It also manages a supply chain of 300+, which cover the length and breadth of Scotland.

ProjectScotland, the charity which helps young people to get on in life through volunteering, has been awarded the Investors in Young People accreditation, a new award created by Investors in People Scotland in partnership with the Scottish Government. 

The accolade recognises employers for their recruitment and retention of young people in the work place.  With a quarter of ProjectScotland staff (above) under 25 the award further cements ProjectScotland’s ethos and commitment to developing young people.

Congratulating the charity on their award, Minister for Youth and Women’s Employment Annabelle Ewing said: “I would like to congratulate ProjectScotland on achieving the new Investors in Young People accreditation. ProjectScotland recognise the benefits of recruiting and developing young people and that it is not just the right thing to do, it is the smart thing to do.

“Employers have a crucial role to play in supporting youth employment in Scotland and the new Investors in Young People framework and accolade offers help and recognition which will encourage more employers to do that.”

Paul Reddish, CEO of ProjectScotland, said: “We are very proud of our Investors in Young People award. As a charity we offer 16 – 30 year olds a three month volunteering opportunity, allowing them to learn new skills and gain valuable experience while giving back to society as we believe that young people have the talent to transform their lives and the communities around them. That’s why here at ProjectScotland young people are a big part of our work force and we aim for this to not only continue but grow.

“This award acknowledges that we are investing in young people and it’s great to see the Scottish Government and Investors in People recognising our achievements.”

People management specialists, Investors in People selected a sample of employees from ProjectScotland to discuss various aspects of their role, the organisation and training as well as reviewing how the charity attracts, recruits and retains young people.

They have a clear understanding of the importance of employing and developing young people and the enormous benefits to both the employer and the young person.

Port of Leith goes gold!

Port of Leith Housing Association (PoLHA) has been awarded a prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Gold Accreditation – the most successful framework for business improvement through people in the UK.

PoLHA goldThe award represents a true commitment to employees and demonstrates a solid foundation of good practice which remains challenging and aspirational for many organisations – and achieving the Gold level puts PoLHA in the top seven per cent of all IIP Accredited clients.

Keith Anderson, Chief Executive at PoLHA, said: “We are delighted to be recognised in this way for the skills and commitment of our staff and Board members to continuous improvement for both its customers and as a great place to work. This has also given us a better understanding of how we can further improve our services in future.”

 Peter Russian, Chief Executive of Investors in People Scotland, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for PoLHA. Investors in People offers a flexible, practical and easy to use business improvement tool designed to help organisations and their people achieve their objectives.”

 PoLHA was also awarded a Bronze re-accreditation from Healthy Working Lives.

The Association’s Healthy Working Lives group is made up of volunteer members of staff and to gain the award they undertook a number of initiatives to support and encourage all staff to adopt a healthier working practice which has led to improved performance and enjoyment in their work.
