McColl’s Ferry Road store reopens after major refit

The McColl’s store at Drylaw Shopping Centre re-opened yesterday following a four day closure for a £100,000  refurbishment.

It was a morning of celebration at the local shop. McColls branch manager Lynne Tait and Muirhouse Youth Development Group’s Dean Shanks cut the ribbon to formally open the new look store and there was face-painting, goodie bags for customers and a charity cheque for £400 was also presented to Muirhouse Youth Development Group to mark the big day.

McColl’s Retail Group area manager Stewart Morens said: “The shop was taken right back to the bare brick and everything has been replaced – the refrigeration, the shelving, everything. Ferry Road is one of our busiest stores and we hope our customers will like what they see.”

Willie Inglis from Drylaw was one of the first customers, and he was impressed. “It looks really smart”, he said. “This shop is dead handy for me and I’m in here just about every day. I missed the shop when it was closed. It’s good to see it back open again.”
