The winners of Scotland’s annual awards for excellence in housing were announced at a special awards dinner at Murrayfield Stadium on 27 October. Thirteen award category winners were announced alongside a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to Mary Taylor in recognition of her services to Scotland’s housing sector.
Ardenglen Housing Association was named Housing Team of the Year for their work on “Standing up for Safe Communities – Dealing with Extreme Violence”. East Ayrshire Council won Campaign of the Year for their “Clean, Green and Vibrant Communities” campaign.
South Lanarkshire Council won the Excellence in Regeneration Award for Fernhill, Rutherglen while the Excellence in Development for Affordable Housing Award went to Lovell and Places for People for Harvesters Way in Wester Hailes. Berwickshire Housing Association was presented with the Margaret Blackwood Award for Excellence in Housing Innovation for its work with Community Energy Scotland on the ‘Fisherman Three’ Community Wind Farm.
The Excellence in Scrutiny Award went to Trust Housing Association while Maryhill Housing Association scooped the Excellence in Skills Development Award and River Clyde Homes were named winners of the Excellence in Health and Wellbeing Award. Meanwhile, moo-let.com received the Excellence in the Private Rented Sector Award.
Individual awards also went to Michael Melton of Scottish Borders Housing Association who was presented with the Bob Allan Young Achiever in Housing Excellence Award, to Lynn Reid of Elderpark Housing Association who won the Margaret Vass Award for Excellence in Frontline Housing and to Morgan Anderson of Kingdom Housing Association who was named Apprentice of the Year. Jennifer Queripel of Clackmannanshire Council received the Excellence in Leadership Award.

The evening was hosted by Grant Stott with entertainment provided by former Scotland rugby union captain Al Kellock.
