Appeal for witnesses following robbery in Clermiston

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at a Clermiston convenience store. The incident happened around 10.50 am yesterday at the Day-to-Day shop in Duart Crescent.

A man was working within when a male entered and presented a knife before demanding money. The shopkeeper struggled with the suspect who then made off empty-handed.Inquiries are ongoing to trace this male and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

He is described as white, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins tall with a slim to athletic build and wearing a dark hooded top, dark jogging bottoms and black and white trainers.

Detective Constable Joyce Gunderson from Corstorphine CID said: “The shopkeeper showed great bravery to prevent the store being robbed and we are now pursuing various lines of inquiry to trace the suspect. If you recognise his description, or have any information that can assist with this investigation then please contact police immediately.”
