Forth ward hustings cancelled

Granton and District Community Council has cancelled next week’s planned hustings event, citing possible ‘political issues and conflict of interests’.

In a statement issued last night, the community council said: ‘‘The public hustings event on forth ward on 18th April at RWCC has been cancelled.

‘Granton and District community council understand that there may be some political issues and conflict of interests surrounding the next council election. GDCC is politically neutral and few candidates are actively participated in the next council election process as well, which may raise any concern as a whole.

‘view of the above, we are inviting councillor candidates who are standing for the Forth Ward in the May election to briefly make their key points at our meeting. It will be not a formal hustings event though. There will be an opportunity to take questions from local residents

‘Please accept our apology for any inconvenience..

‘Please note, our next meeting will be on 24 April 2017, Monday, 7pm at RWCC’
