Community Space launch next weekend

Community Space Launch Event Programme

People Know How are officially launching our Community Space on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th January, from 10am until 5pm at Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre in Leith.

The Community Space will be host to over 40 organisations – including everything from book binding and community arts demonstrations to break dancing. This event will allow people to find out what’s happening in their community. People can get involved in community activities and if inspired people will be on hand talk them through volunteering.

Our Launch Event will bring people together and encourages organisations and individuals alike to celebrate the diversity of Edinburgh’s inspiring third sector. Over two fun filled days there will be a variety of engaging activities stationed throughout Ocean Terminal, for example:

  • Collect a FREE Smart Meter and learn how to save energy with Home Energy Scotland.
  • Bring science to life with Fun Palace, Leith Labs and Science Ceilidh.
  • Have your say about Leith with Inspiring Leith.
  • Come and help build a bike with RUTS (Rural and Urban Training Scheme).
  • Learn how to become a master break dancer with The State.
  • Take part in a drama workshop with Grandram.
  • Help decorate a piano courtesy of Glasgow Piano City.
  • Unlock your computer’s full potential with Re:Connect and O2 at Ocean Terminal

People Know How is an Edinburgh based charity, established in 2013. We are founded upon the principles of Social Innovation and believe people “know how” to solve relevant social issues within their communities – they just require support and guidance. We work with individuals, groups and communities to “unlock their ideas” and support them as they find solutions to local social issues. We run a variety of projects, each with the overall focus of reducing social inequality within distinct communities.  The Community Space is a FREE accessible space in Ocean Terminal that is available to charities, community groups and individuals. It is managed and maintained by a team of wonderful volunteers and has been host to organisations such as Project Scotland, EaRN and NHS Talkability.
