Spartans Community Football Academy at Ainslie Park was the venue for North Edinburgh’s very own Olympic Games earlier this week.

P7s from five local primary schools – Granton, Pirniehall, Craigroyston, Flora Stevenson and St David’s – took part in the games on Wednesday, with a wide range of sports to try out: fFencing, judo, throwing, running, volleyball, rugby, golf, football and mountain biking were all on offer!

Spartans CFA Youth & Community Worker Jamie Tomkinson explained: “The Olympics sporting project aims to inspire local young people to try new things, get involved with and put their energy into sport. We aim to encourage greater involvement in recreational exercise as a direct result of this project.

“We’s like to thank everyone who helped to make the day a success – the volunteers from the Nike store, young volunteers from our Alternative Academy and the providers of all the various activities on the day, including Edinburgh Leisure and Edinburgh Rugby. And a big thanks too to the schools who took part and the children who showed so much enthusiasm.”
