Edinburgh North & Leith MP Dierdre Brock has written to police expressing concerns over the visit of controversial ‘pick up artist’ Roosh V.

Commenting on the planned gathering in Edinburgh of supporters of the American author Daryush Valizadeh – known as ‘Roosh V – who advocates the legalisation of rape on private property, Deidre Brock MP said:

“Mr Valizadeh’s views on rape are dangerously idiotic. While I think he deserves ridicule and contempt more than publicity, there are safety concerns about the advertised gathering of his supporters on Saturday – should he actually have any supporters.

Given his pro-rape statements I have raised my concerns about the legality of the event with the police. I hope that the men of Edinburgh show their disdain for his hateful views by simply not turning up.”

Roosh V has organised meetings in Edinburgh and Glasgow on Saturday evening, part of an international meet-up taking place in forty countries. Only heterosexual men will be ‘allowed’ to attend the meetings: any women attempting to attend will be filmed with footage sent to his worldwide “anti-feminist” network who will then “exact furious retribution.”

On the website advertising the event, Roosh V writes that it is time for his supporters to “come out of the shadows and not have to hide behind a computer screen for fear of retaliation”.
